Camping with the Clarks

We were able to go camping with our good buddies the Clark's up to Payson Lakes in July.  We've been trying to get together on a camping trip for the past four years, so it was great we finally did it this summer!  Payson Lakes is one of our most favorite places to camp.  It is so beautiful and the vegetation is do dense.

While we were loading up it was a hot sunny day.  It's only just over an hour drive from our house and about half way there the sky got cloudy and it started to rain.  We were a little nervous.  Luckily, it just sprinkled a little while Branson set up the tent and then was nice for the rest of the trip.
After getting camp set up the Clark's found us and we hiked up to this little area behind our campsite with lots of fun logs to climb on.

The kids loved all the sticks.  They used them to "chop" and "shoot".

Torv was almost 2 months old and loved looking around at a beautiful green world.  So much better than staring at the walls and ceiling at home.

Then we decided to take a little hike down to check out the lake.

So beautiful, it was about dusk.

Lana and AJ holding hands on the way back to camp.  They held hands until I ran in front of them to take a picture and then AJ got a little self conscious and let go.

We had a fun dinner together and then the kids entertained themselves by playing capture the flag with flags made from sticks and paper towels.

After dinner we went down to the Clark's campsite for some time by the fire, dutch oven cherry cobbler and scary stories.  My boys got a bad case of the giggles during the scary stories so no one ended up to scared!

All tucked in and ready for bed.  They sleep warm in their combined bed.

The next morning dawned bright and sunny!  After a delicious dutch oven mountain man breakfast by Jim we  headed down to the lake to play in the water.  The kids were so excited to use these tubes we picked up at the dollar store.

Daddy with his baby boy.

Brecken got a little frustrated with his tube.
It was smaller than Caden's and didn't float him very well.

The poor Clark's didn't know there was swimming up there and didn't pack their swimsuits.

Brecken giggling wildly at Dad doing a handstand in the water.

Caden was using two sticks for paddling and going all over the lake.

Brecken getting warm.

We had such a fun, relaxing, one nighter camping trip and can't wait to do it again next year!
