I have to admit this was the most difficult December/ Christmas I've ever had before. But, before all that started we got in some good old fashioned gift making.
The boys made these adorable gingerbread men for their teachers. We stuffed them with candy and I used the sewing machine to put the front and back together.
We went a little crazy with the making of candy cane reindeer to give to all their little buddies.
We had a very sick few weeks the last half of December. It started the Sunday of the last week of school before the break. Caden was sick and missed monday. I sent him back to school on Tues but that night he got bad again and Brecken was getting the same stuff. A neighbor mentioned having strep so I took them in on Wed and sure enough they both had it. They were over the worst of it by then. We got them on antibiotics ASAP and the Dr. said they could go back to school on Thurs.
I was so glad because I didn't want Brecken to have to miss his Joy School party and for Caden to miss his elementary Christmas sing and class party. We went and enjoyed Brecken's party but when I got up Friday morning I was barely able to get Caden ready for school. I could feel myself going downhill quickly and knew I had strep too.
I got on my knees and looked Caden in the eyes. Then I told him I was sooo sorry I wasn't going to be able to go to his singing program. I was pretty upset and crying a little. He looked at me quizzically and asked, "Why, did teacher say you can't come?" I told him no, that I was just too sick. He responded, "It'll be OK mom. Lana will keep you company and you should drink lots of water so you can get better." Oh little man; he totally melted my heart!

That's so sweet! Strep is THE worst!
We've had sicknesses here too, winter is no fun for that. Here's to hoping they are gone and stay that way! For all of us...
