A Very Special Eve

We woke up on Christmas Eve to a beautiful snowy day!

Unfortunately, I had to go run errands, and then finish baking and delivering neighbor gifts so we didn't get to play much as a family in  the day.  Next year I will be more organized and have that all done ahead of time.

The festivities really began at about 5pm when we picked up our good friend Joan to join us for dinner and activities.  Here she is doing a puzzle with the kids while Brans and I prepared dinner- our traditional Bethlehem supper.

 Torvy and Dad being adorable.

After dinner it was time for the nativity.  The kids are getting so good at acting out their parts and Brans has always been a natural at his role- the donkey.  We had Torv as our baby Jesus this year.

 Singing carols.

After the nativity and opening new jammies and ornaments we went downstairs to write letters to Santa.  Lana dictated hers and Dad copied it down.  This is what she said:
Hi Santa can I have nail polish and nail lipstick, yeah.  And can you know that I'm very nice to you, cause you're very nice to me.  Okay? Okay.  You know how I am.  Thanks. Santa thank you.  I know how you are.  You give us presents and toys.  You know if we're asleep or awake or naughty, so please give me toys.  Have you ever heard of Jesus?  No, you haven't.  It's his birthday.  That's the end of the list.
Love,
Lana

We had a very pleasant evening reflecting mostly on our Savior.
