Excitement!

We had a great conference weekend. I love General Conference, hearing from the prophet and apostles- definitely a spiritual high. Sat. we went up to Kaysville so Brans could go to the Priesthood session with his Dad.

Sun was nice too, we stayed up at Grandma's house. Caden was really quiet and layed on the couch we found out he had a fever that afternoon.

So Mon. morning back at home I was trying to get the two boys to eat. They both were crying and refusing to eat anything. Brecken had the fever now. I figured out they are both getting molars. I carried the boys down to the basement so they could lay on the couch and watch toons. Only, the floor was squishy down there. The carpet was all wet. I knew it had rained all weekend but I really didn't think it was enought to flood.

So I looked at the window wells and saw water pouring down the wall out of this electrical looking box. I opened it up and there was a small pipe just shooting out water. I was still in my pajamas but I ran outside and sure enough the front yard was flooded. Water was shooting up from the pipe next to our water main.

So I ran in, got the phone called Brans and got the long key to turn off the sprinkler system, all at the same time. I couldn't feel through the mud and water to get the valve. So, I called a neighbor to get a better key and dashed downstairs to see how wet it was. I was totally in panic mode.

I grabbed the kitchen trash can to stick under where the water was coming out, but it was just dribbling down the wall. So I ran around the basement looking for some kind of hose or pipe to extend the water so it would fill the trash can. I finally took an empty milk jug and cut a hole in the bottom and fitted the top over the pipe.

Then I ran back outside to try and shut the water off. Neighbors were starting to arrive (all of us mommies). One had the better key so I tried to use it to shut of f the water. Then we called another neighbor we thought knew how to do it and two other mommy friends and a herd of kids arrived.

Luckily just then a handyman in the neighborhood drove by and stopped. He took the key and turned of the water main for me. Then the whole troup of ladies came in and moved furniture, mopped up water with towels, one even ran home to get her carpet shampooer to use to suck up the water. A few hours later it was pretty well sucked up, the handyman had brought a carpet blower. So I had the carpet pulled up and that going.

Once everyone had gone I dropped on my knees and thanked Heavenly Father for sending so many angels to help me. What a blessing to be surrounded by such wonderful people!!!

The carpet is still drying but I'm confident that in another day it will be dry and we can put everything back. Luckily (miraculously) the leak was small and Branson was able to fix it fairly easily.

What a good idea to use a milk jug, you are so clever. I'm glad everything worked out well and it didn't sound like there's any permanent damage.

Sounds like you had a lot, but I hate to hear that you were in need and I wasn't there to offer any help. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!!! Take care!! I'll be praying for ya!
