Every once in a while when I was using the computer the monitor just wouldn't light up. Even though the computer was on I couldn't use it. Brans told me to just reboot and I did and that seemed to work for a while.
Then, two days ago I couldn't get it to work at all , all day. So he came home and fiddled with it and couldn't get it to work either. We thought it might be the monitor so he took it to a friend's house and hooked it to their computer and it worked. So, he spent a couple more hours on the phone with a techie and took out the video card and the computer seemed to work again. We just bought the computer last year and found out it was out of warranty by 6 DAYS. Ugh.
The computer should have been working this morning with the onboard video card, but alas it had the same problem. I was a little panicked, there is no way we could afford a new computer now. Brans thought about it some more and thought maybe it was the monitor after all.
So he hauled home our old, 50 lb, 3 foot by 4 foot , ancient monitor from work and we plugged it in. Hallelujah- it works. So we just have to get used to nonflat panel, blurry looking screen for a while.
