Time For Tadpoles

Right at the beginning of June after school was out the boys wanted to go to the mud hole back behind our house to catch tadpoles.
I had Caden roll up his pants, gave him a bucket and a fish net and sent him off. An hour later they hadn't come back so I went to check on them and found this muddy scene! Funny boys. I made Caden throw back 3/4 of the tadpoles he had and he still came home with about 18.

The boys got pretty muddy! This is the before being sprayed off with the hose pic.

And this is after.

The tadpoles have been living on our front porch in a bucket. They eat fish food and all the kids love them. They are now 3 weeks old and we have two that have their front legs now. The rest just have back legs.

I was surprised that when they get their front legs and lose their tail they end up being smaller than right before they get their legs. Cute little tiny frogs!
These are pets I can handle: free, kids can feed them and change their water, and they live outdoors!
