I'm a Dork

Tuesday was cold and stormy so I didn't end up getting a work out in my day. (I was planning on running or biking that night). Wed. morning I was pumped and ready to get out. I called Audra and she said she'd watch the kiddos so I could go for a run. Wearing my fleece jacket with a windbreaker over it and my mittens in my pocket I headed out.
I had a pretty good run, went three miles and didn't feel too dead when I was done. I walked over and picked up the kids then headed to the backyard to check the garden to see if any little green things were poking out yet. Brecken waited in the garage because he was cold and just wanted to go inside. I came in the garage and he asked where the key was. Joking I responded, "What key???" Then dug into my pocket and came out with... nothing.
Oh crap, where was my key. I figured it must have fallen out when I took my jacket off at the end of the run and tied it around my waist. I loaded the kids into the stroller and started back tracking. We covered the last block and didn't find it. So then I thought I must have lost it at the beginning when I took my mittens out of my pocket and put them on. We didn't find it there either. I just kept walking and covered 2 of the 3 miles I had run. I was walking fairly quickly because the kids were cold, it was really windy.
We got back home with no key and Brecken needed to go potty. I couldn't even convince him to pee in the grass in the backyard. I was going to head back to Audra's and us her phone and see if I dropped it in her house but she was already gone out of town for the next day. Thankfully Olya was home and gave us refuge. We bummed at her house for a while and she fed us lunch (thank you , thank you , thank you). Then she convinced me to head back out with her and search one more time for the key. I couldn't even have Branson come let me in because he was in a trial.
We loaded up all the kids and hit the trail. After a few tantrums and a little bike crash by one of the kids we found the key at just about the furthest point of my run from the house. It was laying there in the middle of the path, hooray.
So at 9:30 am I headed out for a 3 mile jog. By 2pm I finally made it home after having jogged 3 miles and walked 5 for a total of 8 miles covered that day. I definitely got a good training day in. Not quite how I planned my day but thank goodness for a good friend. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take their advice now and give a key to one of my neighbors to hang onto for me! I'm such a dork.

That just sounds all too familiar :) But I'm like the other Krista, I probably wouldn't have bothered looking for it, especially if it meant walking the 3 more miles! Good for you though :) You benefitted I'm sure :) I miss you Leah!!! I need to make a trip out to Eagle Mt as soon as school is out!! I can't believe i still have your book!! I coulda sworn I gave it to you one of the other times I was out there!!! I promise I'll return it! Love ya!

Oh my goodness! That's awful and great all rolled into one! I can actually imagine how long it would feel alone and I can REALLY feel your pain just thinking of hauling whining kiddos around in the freezing weather. Hooray for miracles! When is your triathlon? I'm so proud and excited for you! I've often thought of doing one, but the swimming would be really, really hard for me...swimming is so wonderful, but I have no stamina in that area. I think my RS president (Junior year at BYU) was named Olya...it's not very common. Does she have a blog? :)
