Phantom-ing

Shhh, this is our little secret. Hopefully no one we phantomed this year will be reading this.
This is one of our family's favorite traditions. It started many moons ago when Brans and I were newly weds living in our tiny apt at the base BYU. We've done it every year since and it gets more and more fun as the kids get older.
I called Brans up at lunch a week ago Mon. and asked him what day it was. "I dunno, a Mon," he said. Yes, and what are we going to do tonight? "FHE". Yeah, the first FHE in Oct. "Oh, phantoming- alright!" I love how excited he gets about it.

So, this is what phantoming is. First, the boys and I make halloween sugar cookies in the afternoon. It's pretty much the one time a year I make them. I love how Caden is actually able to help now. He cut out a bunch and even put them on the cookie sheet himself. I gave Brecken a chunk of dough and he rolled it, and squished it, and played with it for like half an hour. Then I threw it out.
That night for FHE we frost the cookies with Dad. He is our ghost decorator amongst other things. Lastly we get dressed in our hoodies, so as to be disguised. We put the plate on a neighbor's porch with a little poem about how they need to do the same thing within two days or be cursed, ring the bell and run! The boys LOVE being "sneaky".

That is so cute. Everyone loves cookies, especially unexpected ones! I love reading your blog. We check everyday to see if you've written, then we all read it together. I don't always get to comment because I'm usually feeding the baby, but we love you and read it all!!

we love that tradition too! Although, we haven't done it in a long time. Perhaps this year would be good to start again!
